The Project                                                        The prototype                                                                           The cross and Chain

The Project

PAMPINUS CRUCIS is the name of the cross ordered and created for the Pope.

The words, written in Latin, means "sprout of the cross". The vine leaves, in fact, are the sprouts of the vine and in this case the cross represents the ancient root that still gives life.

The night Christ was delivered to die on the cross, he presented himself as the vine, and wanted his disciples to bear fruit like the branches of the vine.

The cross still bears fruits and shoots sprouts.

The Pampinus Crucis project was born with the intention of representing this principle.

The project includes a book that records the entire process of this project, alongside the meaning of each step.

The Cross and Chain

The materials in this project are entirely recycled, donated with the intent of being used for this project. Each of them had its own identity, and together form an object with its own, new identity. Each element has its history, and together will start a new life together. Each component  can be disassembled and reused for a new project. The process leading to the cross is also part of the greater project. The techniques used in the various processing steps will have an IMQ certification, to demonstrate that a process that respects the environment and people is possible. In March 2015 IMQ started the observations of the manufacturing processes.

Many people have taken and are taking part in this project: those who thought and designed it, those who donated silver rings and bracelets, who gave the olive wood, the glass, those who offer their time and efforts to produce the paper for the production of the book, the authors of the text, as well as those who graciously supported the project, and the people who will follow the journey of the cross all the way to Rome. We are all intertwined like the rings of the necklace that stretches endlessly.
